February E-News – Membership renewal

WiddopRob

This first e-news of 2011 is an opportunity to update you on HBPRCA activities, and also to encourage you to renew your membership. We are asking everyone to use the online form, and hope that your recent experiences with other sites will not put you off!

Please feel free to contact me with any comments and suggestions,

Rob Widdop, HBPRCA Secretary

Membership renewal time

Annual Subscriptions for membership of the HBPRCA are due by March 31, 2011.

It has become obvious that we need to know more about the background of our members. There are two areas where this will be particularly useful – programming concepts for the Annual Scientific Meeting, and in our interactions with potential sponsors. For example, just knowing how many clinicians and how many scientists we have could be both a surprise and a ‘selling point’.

We are asking all members, whether a full member or a student member, to renew/confirm their membership using the Meetings First website. New members can also apply via this website.
Benefits of HBPRCA membership include the following:

  • Reduced rates for the HBPRCA Annual Scientific Meeting
  • Student travel grants
  • Job opportunities are posted on the HBPRCA website (www.hbprca.com.au) and in the HBPRCA E-news
  • Members of the HBPRCA will be able to access a directory of members
  • International opportunities
  • BHS Exchange
  • AHA-CHBPR Exchange
  • Franco Exchange
  • Regular updates regarding cardiovascular events of interest, including the International Society of Hypertension and the Asia Pacific Society of Hypertension

Awards/honours made to HBPRCA members at the Annual Scientific Meeting include:

  • Early Career Investigator Oral and Poster Awards
  • Student Oral and Poster Presentation Awards
  • Robert Vandongen Travel Award (for a young investigator from WA)

If for whatever reason, you do not wish to renew your membership, please let the Secretariat know so that we may avoid unnecessary follow-up communication.

Naturally, if you have any questions or comments regarding payment, please contact HBPRCA Secretariat at Meetings First.

We look forward to your continued and active involvement – Janna Morrison
