
The Foundation for High Blood Pressure Research was established following the success of the International Symposium on Hypertension held in Melbourne in 1994. Under the chairmanship of Colin Johnston, the Foundation has generously supported Fellowships, Postdoctural Awards and provided meeting support.

The Foundation for High Blood Pressure Research is pleased to announce that it will provide Travel Awards to young Australian researchers presenting their work at the ISH Scientific Meeting in Vancouver. Individual awards will be up to $3,000.00 as determined by the Foundation.

Eligibility
The awards are available to PhD students and postdoctoral researchers with no more than five years’ experience post-PhD. Preference will be given to members of the High Blood Pressure Research Council of Australia.
How to apply
Applicants should send a letter of application to the address below with a copy of the abstract(s) submitted to the Vancouver Organising Committee and provide evidence that the abstract has been accepted. Applicants should also provide a brief (2 pages maximum) curriculum vitae and a letter from the Head of their department or research institution that confirms their status as a Young Investigator as defined above.
Judging procedures
Following receipt of this information the Trustees of the Foundation will make a decision on the number and value of the Travel Awards to be offered.
The Foundation encourages all applicants to seek other sources of funding to attend this meeting.
The Foundation offers a two-year postdoctoral fellowship for a research project in hypertension or related fields in basic, clinical or public health areas at an Australian institution. Applications from biomedical, clinical and public health researchers are invited.
Applications are open to Australian citizens or permanent residents.
It is expected that the successful applicant will have had not less than five and not more than ten years' postdoctoral experience. The fellowship provides a salary and modest project maintenance costs.

The ISH Visiting Postdoctoral Award has been designed to encourage experienced researchers from countries other than Australia to work in Australia for up to two years on a specific research project in hypertension or a related field in basic, clinical or public health areas.
The ISH Visiting Postdoctoral Award will be awarded to an Australian research institution, as a contribution towards the salary of a postdoctoral researcher who is not an Australian citizen or permanent resident.
